I’ve made it a point not to swear in my blog anymore, because my relatives and younger cousins might be reading. But this is just too much.

4:00 AM, Hong Kong International Airport. A group of 20 passengers have been waiting for their China Southern Airline flight CZ3090 departing from Hong Kong to Nanning, China for the past 12 hours.

The Hong Kong management in charge of the Guangzhou based airline could not give a concrete explanation for the inconvenience. The initial reason for the delay of the 5:55 PM flight was due to the typhoon which hit Hong Kong the night before, which had travelled over to Nanning.

However, by 12 Midnight or earlier, the weather had been reported to be still in both cities. Yet, flight CZ3090 from Nanning to Hong Kong had not departed, leaving the impatient passengers in Hong Kong and Nanning baffled and frustrated.

No arrangements for accommodations were available nor prepared for the passengers, who had waited for over 12 hours. The management in Hong Kong tried to help pacify the restless passengers by issuing HKD40 meal vouchers, and later, a HKD200 compensation.

I find the HKD200 an insult. The fact that I’ve waited over 12 hours for a 1 hour flight is fucking ridiculous. The fact that when questioned, the management could only say “we can only wait for an update from Nanning” is totally fucked.

Counting my blessings, at least I’m not the crowd stranded in Nanning. HK International Airport is by conservative standards, 100 times better than Nanning domestic airport.

I’m glad I’m still alive. The airline might have been MORE irresponsible by flying in the typhoon and caused a fatal tragedy.

I just want this ordeal to end, get my ass over to Nanning, pack my stuff, get my ass out of Nanning back to Shanghai. I don’t ever want to go to Nanning again. Every time I’m associated with that city, it’s always bad.
