Ruth 2:12
12
The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.

I am almost at a loss of words at what to say, but I’m determined to write this post as best as I can.

If you recall my previous posts about my trip in Hong Kong, you will learn of how little I came here with, and how much I had desired for many things during my stay here, but could not afford to buy. Truth be told, I have been searching for an affordable yet attractive jacket for the past 3 months. I did came across a few designs in Shanghai, but fought back the temptation to buy them because I knew I simply shouldn’t. I needed to save money for the months ahead, for living expenses and rent. Even when my GF had insisted to buy a jacket or a coat for my belated birthday gift on separate occasions, I had persistently refused her offer, leaving her frustrated. I was happy actually, that I had the maturity to refuse buying something that I want but shouldn’t, because 6 months ago, I wouldn’t have done this. Times are rough, these aren’t times for luxuries.

Coming to Hong Kong, I did came across a few nice designs which I wanted, I even tried them on at the stores just for the satisfaction of putting the clothes on. But that was that. I had -zero- intentions or hopes of buying anything.

This Christmas, the Lord repaid me in abundance. Perhaps it was because of my kind acts and patience. Perhaps the Lord saw that I have been shivering in winter because I lacked a proper coat, but know that I cannot afford new clothes.

I bought a Wireless Router with what little money I had for my Aunt yesterday, to fix her home internet problems. It was the least that I could do, for she had been kind enough to let me stay at her home and feed me for my stay in Hong Kong. I knew I only had $500 left, and I could use it for other things, but I decided to fork out the $180 to solve her problem.

I paid HKD$180 for the router. Today, I received ten folds of that amount in clothes from  her.

I wasn’t expecting ANYTHING. It was Christmas day, she decided to bring me out to shop for ONE jacket since she knew that I should have one from the last time I visited. At first, we went back to check out the design that I had liked at IZZUE, but it was quite overpriced, so we gave it a miss.

Over the next few hours, we came across better designs at half the prices, one buy led to another, she ended up buying me:

1 Down Coat from Giordano Concepts
1 Smart-Casual-Semi-Formal jacket from Giordano Concepts
1 Casual Jacket from local store
1 Scarf from Giordano Concepts
1 Pair of Jeans from local store
1 T-shirt from local store
1 Shirt from local store

I tried to refuse the gifts at first, but she insisted, and said that this is the best time to buy as everywhere is on sale, and that I could repay her when I’ve made enough money. I’ve literally received a ten-fold reward from what I gave out of my little pockets. This is a classic example of God’s grace. I feel so fortunate to be on the receiving end of it, or at least realize it (because things like these do happen, but often many people take things for granted and don’t see it).

Thank You Lord, for giving me such a wonderful christmas. Everything was good as it was already because my Visa applications and everything else went smoothly without a hitch. My inability to buy gifts for myself was okay because I did not expect any at all. Yet in the end,  I received the most gifts.

Then I had the worry that I may not be able to pack everything in the small luggage which I brought with me – We managed to pack everything neatly and ended up with no shortage of space.

My friends, miracles do happen. The bible stories that you’ve read about people giving whatever they had with their hearts, and receiving a multi-fold reward are true.

Have faith. God sees everything in your life and knows your needs and wants.

Amen.

You got me there, don’t know how to explain further than “God sees everything in your life and knows your needs and wants.” though multi-fold rewards don’t happen to everyone everyday.
