Fred Lin Design Studio was finally completed and launched about a week back. This is the second revision of the Fred Lin Design site, and this time it has been renamed to Fred Lin Design Studio, along with a new logo. The reason being I didn’t want it to remain as a personal portfolio anymore. I intend for it to expand into a thriving web design firm.
Once again, I chose to ditch the previous Flash design, in favor of a more friendly PHP version. The feel of the site might resemble that of my Music site, because they were built using the same tools.
I’ve decided to implement a custom blog system in the site in-place of the News section, to provide articles from time to time and also as a means to connect better with the audience/user.
There is a featured work slider on the main page, and I also implemented it in the Portfolio page to show different slides of a website. At the moment, I have decided to limit it to 3 slides per website, but that may change as time goes by. I’ve also chosen to feature only selected websites in the portfolio, filtering out some of the older works that I’ve done.
Since this is a firm now, it has got to have a business model right? Sure I have one. It can be read in the Services section, where I list all the available services, and also how we work and charge. It’s very seldom that you see a web design firm showing how they charge for projects online! I think this extra transparency is a good move to woo clients over, because that way they are certain of what their money is going into.
Well that’s about it! Not alot to write about, thankfully, since I’m such a boring writer. Speaking of which, I was invited to be an article writer for an educational web technology website recently. However, that is being put on hold for the moment because apparently their website’s server is blocked in China. They are, in the process of fixing it though, so I am still considering being a writer for them.
So, what do you think of my new site?
PS: The beautiful background (in my opinion) was drawn and composed by myself in Photoshop!
It will be available for download as a wallpaper in the next post.
