Last week, my good buddy in Singapore was extremely kind and caring enough to send me a Singapore Care Package. Initially I didn’t think she’d take it seriously during our chat on MSN.
Naturally, I was pleasantly surprised when she told me the next day that she had mailed over a package of FOOD and it’d arrive in 2 days.
I wasn’t expecting this.

It was a large box. When opened, it looked like this.

Inside of it were mealkits by Primataste, for Laksa, Char Kuay Teow, Mee Rebus (!), Curry Chicken, Mee Goreng, along with Sambal Chilli, a few assorted Bak Kut Teh spice packets, Assorted Curry Pastes, and last but not least, 12 packets of McDonalds Curry Sauce(tm).

Before today, I had already forgotten that Mee Rebus existed. My favourite malay noodle dish that I often ordered in Sec School, JC and Poly.

And my friend didn’t ask for a single cent.
Thank you so much Janice.
The first thing I used from the care package was the McDonalds Curry Sauce(tm) which I paired with home-made fries.
Earlier tonight, I used 1 of the Chicken Curry kits by Primataste. It was decent, and convenient. It didn’t taste better than the traditional curry that I cooked previously with curry paste, but it was close enough, and was very convenient. Actually, it tasted pretty damn awesome for a “Meal-outofa-box”.
I’ve made a decision to take photos of every dish I make from the kits. This is curry chicken with lots of potatoes, paired with a side of curry cabbage and string beans.

Hey, the least I can do for Janice for sending the early Christmas present is to make her drool … right?
