Praise the Lord indeed! Went to the Singapore consulate at Shanghai to apply for a social visit Visa for my girlfriend today. Earlier research has led me to believe that an excruciating arduous process was required for a PRC to get a social visit Visa to Singapore. Some sources stated that the visitor/sponsor needed to pay a huge amount of monetary deposit, while others cited that the visitor had to have a certain large amount of savings in their banks, and such.

I prayed hard about it, both of us, and today, we were literally asked no questions about any additional requirements other than the respective forms filled up and her passport. Hallelujah!

If all things go as expected (they will), we will be flying back to Singapore on the 5th of July until the 29th. I’m now in the process of sourcing for cheapest tickets once we collect her Visa. I wonder if my SIA ex-classmates could help with that…

Now I have a small problem, I have already compiled a list of to-dos and to-eats while I’m back in Singapore. The problem is, there are so many things to eat, along with the fact that I haven’t been back for 2 years now.

Can my dear friends and fans PLEASE give me your suggestions? On top of my list now are:

1: Chicken Rice

2: Char Kuay Teow

3: Laksa

4: Economical Rice

5: Kuay  Chap

6: Hokkien Mee

7: Chai Tow Kuay

8: Ba Chor Mee

What else should be on my list? :)

I’m still hanging on the edge of the cliff, with a bright horizon waiting in the distant. All I need now is a little push to fall in the right direction. :)

I’ve only eaten 4 of them so far. Chicken rice is my fave. :) I also like duck rice.

Can you tell me where do you usually go to do visa in HK? I’m flying to HK soon and I want to get a visa to go to mainland China from there and if possible, without having to wait too long. A couple of hours or up to one day if possible…..

I’m not sure if they will give me a visa at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore because I only have tickets to go to HK and to return to Singapore. I was planning to take a train from HK to go to Guangzhou. My friend suggested getting the visa in HK instead.

    thanks for the info!
I managed to do my visa at the Chinese Embassy in Singapore. It seems that they aren’t so strict about visa applications now. :)
I’ll be in HK on the 29th June and 9th July. In between, I’ll be in Guangzhou or Shenzhen. I haven’t decided yet.
