It’s been a personal habit/tradition to produce something musical for Christmas, and this year I was inspired and motivated to do something really special.

It’s completed! Well, sortof… My original music composition for Christmas 2009 is finally completed. I finished up the recording last night, edited the final vocals from 3 recorded takes. Didn’t bother with vocal tuning this time, because I wanted it to have a very intimate and sincere feel to it. Even the piano is un-quantized.

I had intended for the arranging to be a little fuller than just a piano, however I knew I was a little late for a Christmas release, and also doing an arrangement now takes me a little longer than it used to, simply because I haven’t been working on music production for over 3 months now. In the end, I decided to go with the piano and vocal, with a heavy slap of reverb, kinda sounding like a live performance in an auditorium. It produced a magical christmas feeling, while conveying the message behind the lyrics clearly, without being drowned in a carnival of sounds.

Hope ya’ll enjoy The Greatest Gift of Christmas, and be reminded of the true significance of Christmas, away from all the commercialization about Christmas wherever you may be.
